Have you memorized any Bible verses? If you said yes, then you’ve probably memorized this one. It is one of the most famous verses in the Bible.
“For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
I’m sure that you’ve heard this verse before, and there is a good chance that you have it memorized. I hope that you take this verse personally!
What do I mean by taking something personally?
Let’s pretend that President Obama is giving one student in America a prize to celebrate education in America. We’ll pretend that out of all of the students in America, only one receives the award—a brand new laptop computer!
But that’s not all. In this pretend situation, the student also gets a free trip—with his or her family—to Washington, DC. This student will spend a whole day at the White House and get a private meeting with the President where he will award the laptop personally!
You might think to yourself, “Wow, that kid will have a great day!”
Now let’s pretend that I tell you that kid is you! Then you would really be excited, wouldn’t you? That is what I mean by taking something personally.
John 3:16 tells us that God loved the world so much that He gave His son, Jesus, to die for us. That is such a wonderful, powerful verse, but have you taken it personally? Do you really know and believe that it’s talking about you?
“For God loved HALEY so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that HALEY will not perish but have eternal life.”
Wow, that really makes it personal, doesn’t it?
“For God loved TYLER so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that TYLER will not perish but have eternal life.”
Once you take this verse personally and believe “eternal life is mine, and all the riches of heaven are mine,” it will change your life. So, today, take God’s promise personally and make it a wonderful new day—a new day with Jesus!
