Today I want to tell you about my best friend. I hope that He is your best friend, too, because I’m talking about Jesus! Let’s read a verse about Him:
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20)
Jesus wants to be our best friend. This Bible verse tells us that Jesus is knocking at a door. What door do you think Jesus is knocking at? Well, He is knocking at the door of our hearts! We don’t really have a big wooden door inside of us, do we? It’s not like a door on our house. So what does that Bible verse mean?
Well, it means that Jesus loves us. He loves all of His children, but He doesn’t force us to be friends with Him. It is kind of like He is knocking on the door of our home. He is inviting us to be His friend. Jesus is asking us to come and spend some time with Him—to come outside and play. Jesus is inviting you and me to be His best friend. Wow!
Many years ago, I felt Jesus knocking at the door of my heart. I was so happy. I opened my heart to Him and asked Him to be my best friend. Now, I know that no matter what happens to me I always have my best friend. Jesus will always be my friend. He won’t ever get mad at me, and we won’t ever fight. He won’t move away to another town. He is always there with me. He will always be my best friend, and is someone I can talk to.
Our Bible verse also tells us that Jesus wants to share a meal with us. God has a wonderful banquet planned for us in Heaven. It will be better than the best Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner you’ve ever had! Do you want to know why? Well, there will be good food, but it will be so special because we will get to eat dinner with Jesus! It will be a wonderful meeting and I cannot wait for the big celebration that He has planned. All of Heaven is waiting for us. They are excited, too!
Have you felt Jesus knocking at the door of your heart? Go ahead and open it. Invite Jesus to be your best friend and make today a wonderful new day—a new day with Jesus!
